Our presentation feedback has been received and it was good! Ben Williams made notes during the presentation so it wasn’t such a big surprise..
It was a silly error not listing our 5 key words which were Intrigue, Inquisition, Controversial, Ambiguous and Sinister but we know for next time. Overall I’m happy with the results and know to proof read and spell check at least 18 times next time!!! such silly mistakes.
Today’s presentation went well, We made clear what we were making and only missed a few things that needed to be included or what we needed to expand on. Damien and I stood up to do our groups presentation, Zac controlled the slides and Ben took any feedback notes. We spoke confidently and I’m happy with how our presentation went.
This is our presentation..
We each had access to the Prezi presentation and we each completed the sections relevant to what we are doing.
Today we looked at various research processes to take on board when completing projects. I found this interesting and a lot to take in, during the Hypothesis stage it took me a while to get my head around it all, as you can see in my notes below (If you can read them :-/), but I got there in the end.
Is this because it’s Friday 13th!?!?!?!
Turns out we have to submit a prototype made by us and not just example prototypes of other peoples work similar to what we’re making! Panic! BUT, Damien and Ben saved the day. Phew! They nipped over to Waverley and Damien acted as King Richard III to show how the script is being written to include bother perceptions. Damien smashed it! a great actor in the making.
Above is the link to our prototype video, below are screen shots of our presentation which we have submitted 🙂
It feels like I’ve blinked and it’s already assessment presentation time.
After yesterdays trip we needed to finalise our idea and put it in a presentation. Before we all got together I read the module and made notes on what we needed to include ready for us as a group to complete, See images below.
What is the product? What design theories are we implementing? Target audience?
This didn’t take as long as I expected, because we already had a clear image of how this monologue was going to be shot after all our journey talks, it then became a simple case of trying to express what was in our heads on a presentation to show other people what we will be making.
We are now a team member down and our job roles became clear in this meeting, I will be concentrating on 3d and special effects. I will be working more closely with Zac Pickin who will be doing photography and graphic design. Ben Williams and Damien Ebanks will be doing all the film side of things. I came up with the idea of making a 3d model of a coin I bought in the heritage gift shop (an angel King Richard III coin), it will be animated to show it spinning in the air like someone is playing with the coin, the idea is then for the actor to start the monologue catching this coin which he will have in his hand, a great opening!! below is an image of the YouTube video I will be using as reference.
I also have the idea of flame writing as opening text, see below image;
Zac is also liking this idea and we will be planning/confirming what will be used and executing it over the next three weeks. Now we are planning what we are doing I’m getting even more excited about making and doing this!!!!!
We were let out to go on a field trip!!!
This trip was more beneficial than I thought it would be. My team and I drove to both the Bosworth battlefield heritage centre and country park and to Leicester Cathedral where Richard has been laid to rest, which gave us plenty of time to come up with idea’s for the film, set and special effects. We all took plenty of picture and I was looking around for anything that we could use, Typography for example, in the monologue to link it all together. Before the visit I had no idea what the White boar reference was about, or about the other possible suspects for the nephews disappearance, which by this point we had decided would be great to include in our monologue. With the White boar being King Richards symbol and very significant we feel we have to use it in some way.
The Bosworth battlefield has a great exhibit on King Richard III which kept me interested and educated me further on not only his history but I also found Lady Jane Grey’s story fascinating as well as very sad.
Above Image shows Richard’s crown (replica) with the flags on the Bosworth battlefield.
The way the visitors centre has been designed gives not only reading panels and plaques of words but also interactive picture screens with touch slide options to read on who else could’ve have done it. There was a very interesting speaker who was situated where the bone collection site was, see picture above, which now has a layer of thick glass as a floor. He spoke of King Richards remains being found, as well as any questions people wanted answering about him.
He has a very impressive burial site in the cathedral as shown above.
Below show some great information plaques spread around the visitors centre.
Above shows such a complicated structure for someone to work out who is related to who! but without it we wouldn’t have had DNA confirm it was Richard.
Above shows the play we watched when we first walked in.
Above images are actors who have played the role of King Richard III over the years, a great piece of information relevant to our idea.
I really enjoyed our trip and found it useful in gathering further information to take into our projects. I can’t wait to start!
Have we all done some research? Yes!
Do we all know what we should make? No. Not really….
We all came together and knew we wanted to make some kind of film… But what kind of film? Our idea’s ranged from a Play to a short film, a trailer introducing something but it turned out we all wanted to show both sides of how King Richard was portrayed. We focused our talks more on how we wanted him played and shown to the audience and that is how it came about that we should do a monologue, a monologue to show both sides of how he was portrayed for the audience to then decide.
Research! Now we need to research how a character showing two sides have previously been played, how did they distinguish the two. We will be watching 1995 Richard III, NOW, reading Shakespeare acts of King Richard, all to gain inspiration for script, scene and character play. I’m starting to look forward to this, it’s nice to have an idea in your head you’re wanting to turn into a reality.
I looked at the notes taken from when I researched King Richard and started to think about what interested me enough to put forward as my idea to a potential group. I definitely like the idea of the nephews story plot and would like to do something with that because it can be continued with the current research being done in discovering what happened to them.
With a plausible idea what next!? Team Mates!!
A short film/documentary type product would be a great way to tell the story of this and it’s an area I’ve wanted to work in. I have approached Damien, I have seen a few of his film clips and loved them, together we approached Zak who was already in a small team but we decided it would be beneficial for us all if we worked altogether.
A meeting has been arranged to discuss idea’s on Thursday morning once we have all watched the documentary.
Create a product/experience that allows the participant/viewer to feel how it is to walk up a hill…..
This project is to include any of the following;
Digital material, 3d, video, animation, photography.
I joined a team with Iqra who does web design, Lewis who does concept art and Oak who does 3d. Together we discussed possible idea’s, for example a flip book type sketch but felt this would take too much time to do and we only have a week!
We then answered some questions that Deb suggested we completed before we decided on what to do. Having done this we decided on a University student late for class, making his way up a typical autumn wet hill in the Arboretum to give the viewer a real life experience. We will emphasise the sound and camera work on the go pro to exaggerate this day to day experience to give the viewer the full effect of walking up a hill.
I will collect the sounds and send them to Iqra who will also receive the footage Oak and Lewis have filmed and she will edit this and bring it altogether… Let’s hope it works!!!
